The Region 2050 Project
Region 2050 was a voluntary, collaborative Regional Planning effort to improve and sustain quality of life in the Southern Willamette Valley over the next 50 years. Region 2050 began in the summer of 1999 with the adoption of formal resolutions by the Lane County Board of Commissioners and the City Councils of Coburg, Cottage Grove, Creswell, Eugene, Junction City, Lowell, Oakridge, Springfield, Veneta, and Westfir, and completed its work on October 30, 2006 with the endorsement of the Regional Growth Strategy.

The Region 2050 Regional Growth Strategy examined future growth in these seven key areas:

  • Land Use and Development Patterns
  • Jobs and the Economy
  • Housing
  • Transportation
  • Community Facilities and Services
  • Natural Resources, Open Space, and the Environment
  • Education

To begin the dialogue, the Regional Policy Advisory Board unanimously agreed to a preliminary set of goals and objectives (56kb PDF ) in each of these categories.
